Analytic Microseal

Technique essentials:

- Minimum master apical file (MAF) preparation of size 30

- Minimum 0.05 tapered canal preparation

- 0.02 tapered Microseal master GP cone pre-fitted to length

- 0.04/size 25 tapered niti. finger spreader to created apical space

- Rotary niti. condenser to apply thermoplasticised GP @ 4500-5000 rpm for 5 seconds

Introduction
The Procedure:

1. Following completion of the canal preparation, ensure that a 0.04 tapered size 25 (lime green) niti. Microseal finger spreader fits passively 2mm short of the working length.

2. Select the 0.02 Microseal GP master cone to fit the MAF preparation (minimum size 30) to achieve tug-back (should match the MAF).

3. Coat the tip of the Microseal GP master cone with the sealer and insert it into the canal and 'butter' the canal walls with a thin layer of sealer as it is seated length.

4. Gently insert (and 'watch-wind') the finger spreader to the pre-measured length alongside the Microseal GP cone, and leave for 5-10 seconds to cold condense and seal the apex.

5. Gently rotate and remove the finger spreader, leaving a space alongside the cold-condensed Microseal cone.

6. Coat the rotary niti. Microseal condenser thin smooth layer of thermoplasticised GP onto the full length of flutes of the condenser. Do this by inserting the condenser into the heated Microflow GP cartridge to the depth of the flutes and then syringe a thin smooth coat of molten GP whilst retracting the condenser slowly outwards. There is a working time of 30 seconds after removal from heater.

7. Slowly place the loaded rotary condenser into the space alongside the compacted master GP cone to 2-3 mm short of the working length and activate at 4500-5000 rpm.

8. For 2 seconds, resist the 'kick-back' force that is felt, and then retract the rotating condenser whilst applying gentle force along the canal wall. Placing a vertical GP plugger (e.g. Machtou or Buchanan pluggers) alongside the condenser at the canal orifice level helps shed and condense the GP off the rotating condenser into the canal during rotation. This coalesces the cold Microseal master GP cone with the molten GP to leave a well-compacted 3D homogenous canal obturation predictably in a few seconds!

9. Using the Machtou or Buchanan pluggers, vertically plug the warm GP at the orifice level as it cools. To remove any excess GP from the pulp chamber, preheat the tips of the pluggers if necessary.

10. Finish by use Orange solvent or similar product to remove any residual sealer/GP from the pulp chamber floor prior to restoration.

Troubleshooting:

- For merging canals (e.g. mesial canals of lower molars): fit the Microseal GP cone in the longest canal and obturate as above. Then, without using a master cone, simply place a Microflow GP-coated niti. rotary condenser up to the canal confluence and activate as described above. Both canals filled predictably and quickly!

- In acute canal curvatures, use the 0.02 tapered, size 35 niti. condenser to apply the thermoplasticised Microflow GP.
